We introduced bees into our yard to show our kids where food comes from. That single backyard hive has grown to over a dozen apiaries in and around Springfield, and the Central Illinois region.
Andy became a beekeeper by way of gardening. He’s a member of a number of Central Region beekeeping clubs with his home at Prairie State Beekeepers. He loves sharing his knowledge of beekeeping and has served as Central Regional Director for the Illinois State Beekeepers Association as well as helped teach the annual beekeeping classes through the Extension Office.
Home brewing has been a perfect fit for someone who loves beer, enjoys tasty food (and rarely goes more than a week without firing up the grill or the smoker) and likes chemistry. We’ve been member of Prairie Schooners Homebrew Club for well over a decade. Making mead has been a natural progression. Anna is in charge of the business end of things.
